Hi, I am Ziggy

I would like to share a little about my self. I had cervical cancer in 1991 and I was a very lucky person; see my cancer was contained to the inner part of the cervix, so to get rid of my cancer - a hysterectomy was all I needed. No chemo and no radiation.  But it did change my life, and caused me to become more aware of how precious life is and how easy it can be ended by a horrible sickness called cancer.

Then in 1996, I got my first computer. Ya I had a lot of stuff pent up inside me from the cancer. Like why me and why I was so lucky. I found a way to share my experience with others in a cancer chat support room on Yahoo!. I got the chance to meet some wonderful people there. To this day I still go to the room to try and help others. Its one of the best support rooms one can find . They will let you cry and laugh; vent and share what you are going through - they are warm loving people in these rooms waiting for some one to come in and share a minute, hour, day or years.

I met my sweet heart in this room . A man named syrf who had lymphatic leukaemia twice. Both times he was stage 4 and given weeks to live. Well he now has 6 years remission and I am thankful. I met him in the room 6 years ago, He is one of the first 6 people who got yahoo to open up cancer chat. I came into the room - 1 month after it was opened.  We got together in Dec. of 98 and have shared our lives ever since.

His health is not doing very good as he has something in his lungs that we are trying to find out what it is. I still to this day go to cancer chat . Normally you will find me in room 2 with a bunch of wonderful, friendly, supportive people and I know no matter what we face I have friends their that care.

I come from a family riddled with cancer. my dad has pancreas cancer he is in remission.  His cancer was caught early thankfully he is still alive. Three other females in my family before me had cervical cancer.

And my big Aunt Florence ,she died of melanoma. She was my closet aunt and I loved her so much. She went through many operations; chemo and radiation. They took out parts of her face. My uncle Henry was always by her side he was her second husband. They loved each other very much but couldn’t get married by a priest because Aunt Florence was previously married and in the catholic religion that was taboo to divorce. Her biggest dream in life was to have her marriage blessed by a Catholic Priest. She suffered so much and finally decided to give up. The doctors said they really couldn’t do more for her. The cancer spread through her body; while she was in the hospital near the end.

Somehow my Uncle Henry got the Catholic Church to annul her former marriage even though she was divorced formally many years before.  This meant before she died they were married by a Catholic Priest in the hospital. I wanted to share my story because it helps me to remember that miracles can happen and  that God dos love us very much.

My Aunt passed away one week later with a smile on her face a very happy lady because the one thing in life she wanted was granted by god. He gave her the blessing on the love she shared with the man of her dreams
.
So as you can see cancer has really invaded my life and still might be with my hubby. I have met many wonderful people in yahoo cancer chat; many still alive and many who have passed and are now watching from above but have added to my life in very special ways. I’m opening a door to any who might visit this wondrous site that Pizzy, Onjay and many others have created and shared. Come to the cancer chat room in yahoo and visit us sit a spell and share and if you are one who has been touched with cancer either yourself or in any other way the doors open and we all will try to help.

With all my love
